MEANINGS OF HOME
A series of portraits commissioned for exhibition by London Metropolitan University and the Oral History Society for the project Meanings of Home for People of Colour Living in London.
For once I’m keeping words to a minimum. It’s not my story.
There is a deliberate style to the how I shot this that suggests the alienation in all the participants’ stories. Very little direction was given, deliberately, so that we are not in headshot territory or instagram glam or selfie pose. There is dignity, individuality, a quiet strength and some sadness too. None of the stories are without a sadness in their foundation. A wonderful and unique collection of dignified people.
